TROTTERS World of Animals is an award winning wildlife park located in the picturesque fells of the Lake District. There are hundreds of animals housed here in a breathtaking setting that make this the one visit that you cannot afford to miss.


It is home to a wide variety of animals from every corner of the world, ranging from the critically endangered to the more traditional favourite creatures.


Visitors can experience a vulture whizzing over their heads or watch a falcon swooping onto its prey in a dive of over 100mph. They can learn how barn owls catch their quarry in some spectacular displays.


The animals, including the charismatic cats, the lively troupes of lemurs and the enigmatic eagles are housed in spacious open enclosures. Many people visiting these wonderful creatures leave feel really uplifted and inspired.

Trotters World of Animals holds Animal Encounters when visitors can come face to face with a snake or rub shoulders with a rat. These visits are definitely not for the faint-hearted.


They can accompany the keepers on the feeding presentations and discover what and how the other animals eat. They may learn what a lemur has for breakfast or possibly even what an otter enjoys for lunch

A full programme of events and activities is held throughout the year. The is the Festival of Celtic Cumbria or Brother Eagle: Sister Sky, an introduction to the culture of the North American Indian.


The Creepy Crawly Safari has always proven itself a bug hit with visitors of all ages.


Seasonally themed events include the baby animal barn at Easter and the Spooky Special Sessions at Halloween. The Festival Winter Wonderland is held throughout December when the National Park is festooned with thousands of fairy lights and Santa is in his grotto at the weekends. Special twilight candlelit walks are held on certain days at this time.


Trotters world of Animals has a team of knowledgeable and caring staff who are always on hand to ensure that visitors have a memorable time and to answer any questions about the animals.


It has entered its second decade of conservation work, having recognised that this task is getting more important each year. This conservation work means that only guide dogs are admitted into Trotters World of Animals.


There are picnic sites and play areas. Clown About is an indoor soft play climbing centre with two levels of interconnecting padded walkways, rope bridges, slides, steps and ball pools Tractor rides and pony rides are available at weekends and during the school holidays.


School groups can visit the park for either an informative fun day or a structured programme that is based on the National Curriculum with details. Special needs groups should phone first for more details.

The tea room offers soups, snacks and hot meals and is licensed to sell beer or wine with meals. Birthday parties can be catered for and the gift shop sells souvenirs, sweets and ice creams.


Opening times are 10:00 to 17:30 (or dusk if earlier) each day with the exceptions of Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Trotter's World of Animals is sited at the northern end of Lake Bassenthwaite between the A66 and the A591 roads.
